COMMACK — CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan has been working with AFSCME to secure relief for CSEA Department of Transportation (Babylon) Local Vice President Randy Acum, who was seriously injured while responding to a call from local police requesting the DOT’s help closing the road and detouring traffic away from a drunk-driving crash site.
On behalf of Sullivan, CSEA Executive Vice President Jarvis T. Brown and AFSCME Area Field Service Director Ryan Welles recently visited Acum’s home to present him with a $5,000 check from AFSCME’s Fallen Heroes Fund.
The fund provides relief and immediate assistance to members who fall victim to natural disasters and other tragedies. To date, the fund has provided financial assistance to nearly 5,000 members.
