ROCHESTER — Western Region President Steve Healy, Department of Transportation, Rochester Local members, retirees and family members gathered for a solemn Workers Memorial event honoring workers who lost their lives on the job and recognizing the dangers highway employees continue to face every day.

The remembrance focused on remembrance, workplace safety and our union’s ongoing fight for stronger protections for workers.

“As union members, we fight for safer conditions, better protections, and to make sure our members are looked out for,” said Healy. “As we reflect on these losses, we recommit to pushing for stronger protections and higher safety standards, so no worker has to question whether they’ll make it home at the end of the day.”
