November is a time when many of us look forward to Thanksgiving. It’s an opportunity to gather with family and friends, reflect on the past year and appreciate the people who make a difference in our lives. And as we look back on this year, we have plenty to be thankful for.
We have reason to be thankful for our right to vote and elect those who represent us. I hope you had the opportunity to make your voice heard in this year’s election. It’s a right Americans should never take for granted and a fundamental part of our democracy.
On Nov. 11, we recognize Veterans Day and honor the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Their courage, sacrifice and dedication to our country deserve our deepest gratitude. To our CSEA members who have served, thank you for your service and for the contributions you continue to make in our workplaces and communities.
We also have much to celebrate as a union. Over the past year, we have made progress on improving Tier 6, negotiated strong contracts and continued working to protect our members and make our workplaces safer. These accomplishments are the result of members coming together, standing up for one another and making their voices heard.
Every member has a voice, and every voice matters. When we speak up, stand together and work toward common goals, we build the collective power needed to make real change. That unity has always been the foundation of CSEA, and it will continue to guide us as we face the challenges ahead.
As we approach Thanksgiving, I hope you will take time to enjoy the holiday with those closest to you. Remember that the work you do, the people you help and the difference you make are appreciated.
On behalf of CSEA’s statewide officers, I wish you and your families a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving!
