Still, no matter how complicated the issues, there is one simple way forward — register and vote! There are many outstanding candidates running for office this November who have earned the CSEA endorsement because they have stood with us in good times and bad and done the right thing. CSEA’s endorsement is not given lightly and our process values input from members at the local, regional and statewide levels. Just as importantly, we endorse individual candidates, not political parties. Unsurprisingly, there have been a lot of questions from the media and others about whether CSEA will endorse a candidate for governor this year. The answer is no because neither of the two major party candidates have earned our support. For the same reason, the New York State AFL-CIO did not endorse in the governor’s race. You should consider the records and positions of all the candidates for governor and make your own judgment. Whatever you decide to do about that race, it is essential that you vote. The candidates on the ballot outside of the governor’s race deserve your support. We need good, decent people as our allies in office. State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman have the unwavering support of CSEA, the New York State AFL-CIO and many other unions. DiNapoli and Schneiderman have both worked hard to fairly represent the interests of working people. They are both responsible and accessible public leaders who make the right decisions for the right reasons. They need and deserve your vote. So do the CSEA-endorsed candidates in races for the New York State Senate and Assembly. A full list is printed in this edition of The Work Force and is also on our website. Please consider our choices when you cast your vote. 4 The Work Force October 2014
