Summary of July Board of Directors meeting Editor’s Note: The Work Force publishes a summary of actions taken by CSEA’s Board of Directors. The summary is prepared by CSEA Statewide Secretary Denise Berkley for union members. ALBANY—CSEA’s statewide Board of Directors met on July 16, 2015. In official business, the board: • Confirmed the appointment of new board member, Thomas Weston (Mental Hygiene, Western Region 6). • Approved Central Region 5 to enter into a contract for its’ 2016 upcoming conference, which is beyond the term of the region officers: Sept. 15-18, 2016, Woodcliff Hotel & Spa, Fairport, N.Y. 14450. • Approved the Judicial Board’s recommendation for reinstatement, along with the supporting documentation provided by the statewide president, region president, local president, other current local officers, local members and the region director. After due deliberation, the Judicial Board has determined to recommend that the expelled former local president be immediately reinstated to membership, but is suspended from the right to hold or seek elective or appointed offices in CSEA for a period of no less than five (5) years from the date of her reinstatement. The Judicial Board believes, based on the submissions herein, that the expelled former local president had earned the privilege to be reinstated to membership. However, she should not be immediately afforded the privilege of holding CSEA offices. The Judicial Board believes that the suspension herein is warranted, given the totality of circumstances. • Approved the Standing Legal Committee Report of July 16, 2015. • Approved the appointment of Michelle Slobodian, Niagara County Local 832, Brian Blinn, Cattaraugus County Local 805 and Sean Gibbons, Monroe County Local 828 to the Western Region 6 Political Action Committee.
