Labor Relations Specialist

CSEA is seeking resumes for a Labor Relations Specialist to serve the workers across New York State. Responsibilities include working with union activists to engage members at their worksites and in their communities and negotiating /administering collective bargaining agreements. Must be able to operate independently & schedule workload. Drivers license/car for business use is required. High School/Equivalency & 3 years full time related experience or BA in related field or acceptable combination of work experience and education.

Currently recruiting for the Long Island field area.

Entry Level Clerk positions

CSEA is seeking full-time Entry Level Clerks for our downtown Albany, New York headquarters. Must have a high school diploma or GED and pass office skills tests administered by CSEA. Starting salaries range from $35,000 to $36,800 ($17.95 to $18.87) to start with built in salary progression, excellent benefit packages and a generous accrual system. An in-person work presence is expected.

Membership Specialists process applications for union membership, update members’ records and reconcile member accounts to reflect dues and other payments from payroll sources. Starts at $36,882 or $18.91 / hour.

Insurance Clerks process applications for insurances, update member’ records to reflect beneficiary and coverage information and process billings and claims. May respond to member inquiries on insurance matters. Starts at $36,882 or $18.91 / hour.

Information Technology positions

INPUT/OUTPUT CONTROL SPECIALIST produces job streams, validates and distributes work; provides data control, including scheduling, logging and validation of job data, input and output quality control, establishing schedules for delivery and pick-up of data to outside payroll sources and locations, ensuring timely receipt of machine readable information from outside sources. Assist helpdesk with level 1 support and troubleshooting. Applies understanding of Windows operating system, MS Office and basic computer networking in execution of assignments. An Associate Degree from a recognized institution with specialization in data processing with at least one year of experience in the operations department of a computer center and in a computer operations related title. COMPUTER BUSINESS SPECIALIST

The Computer Business Specialist assists in planning, coordination and implementation of solutions for complex business problems in order to promote operational efficiency; architecting or reengineering applications; development of new data processing systems or substantial modification of existing systems. Responsible for coordinating project performance with the other work of the Information Systems Department and for the timely and economic utilization of resources assigned to the project. Strong technical abilities in Networking and Security initiatives as well as strong programming and coding skills to achieve business results are desired. Statewide Organizer

CSEA, one of New York’s largest public employee unions, is seeking résumés for a Statewide Organizer. Starting salary is $65,860 (higher for candidates with two years professional union organizing experience).The Statewide Organizer’s assignments span New York State and requires travel and a flexible work schedule.
Responsibilities include all aspects of organizing campaigns and building the union including:

  • Performs all phases of organizing activities such as targeting, research, developing leads, progress assessment, recruitment, issue development, strategizing, escalating tactics, voter assessment, GOTV strategies ‐ with the objective of increasing CSEA’s membership.
  • Develops and applies a thorough working knowledge of labor and employment laws in the campaign setting, especially as pertains to exerting pressure on the employer.
  • Acts as lead organizer in campaigns including recruiting and educating volunteers, making assignments and ensuring accountability.
    Gathers, analyzes, manages and uses data and information essential to organizing.

Senior Secretarial Office Assistant - Rochester

The Senior Secretarial Office Assistant (Satellite Office) works under the general supervision of the Regional Office Manager. The Senior Secretarial Office Assistant provides secretarial services to the field staff within the office and oversees the day‐to‐day operation of the Satellite Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists field staff, CSEA officers, members, committees by providing support in employing proper
    office procedures in preparing letters, reports, mailings, handouts, briefs etc.
  • Answers telephones, screens and refers calls to appropriate staff.
  • Receives and, as necessary, meets with visitors/walk‐ins to the Satellite Office and responds to
    inquiries.
  • Transmits instructions and directions from supervisors to appropriate staff. Maintains office files
    and an office library.
  • Maintains and/or provides for petty cash, supplies, equipment, office furniture, inventory and
    services necessary for the daily operation of the office.

Starting Salary for this position is $43,184.
