Communications Specialist for Western New York State, Based in Amherst, NY

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest public employee unions, is seeking resumes for a Communications Specialist for the Western Region Office in Amherst, NY. The specialist will work independently throughout 14 counties in Western New York and as part of a statewide communications team to promote the important work union members perform in their communities; and the value of unions for members and the general public.

Qualifications: The candidate must be a self-starter with strong writing, photography and social media skills; a multi-tasker who can deliver under deadline; function as an ambassador for CSEA with union members, the public and the media; skilled in media relations, public speaking and strategic campaign development; and hold a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field and two years of related experience or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.

Salary: $57,519 with excellent benefits.

Graphic Production Specialist

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest public employee unions, is seeking resumes for a Graphic Production Specialist for our downtown Albany, NY headquarters. Under the general direction of the Director of Communications, the incumbent is responsible for development, coordination of and/or layout of graphic designs and other collateral produced by the Communications Department. Essential functions include but are not limited to: Layout, production and quality control of publication pages into camera-ready collateral; layout concepts, ideas and design for CSEA publications, printed materials, digital content and other graphic elements; assessing, scheduling, layout and job production in coordination with the Print Shop and other production vendors; processing graphic and print project requests.

Salary: $56,629 with excellent benefits.

Qualifications: Associate Degree in graphic arts and three years work experience in desktop publishing/graphic arts/printing field, including experience as production coordinator, design development, and/or system administrator with demonstrated proficiency in desktop publishing (preferably with Apple/Mac system). Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photo­shop and WordPress and familiar with basic File Transfer Protocol (FTP) procedures. OR High School Diploma or equivalency and five years work experience in desktop publishing/graphic arts/ printing field, including experience as production coordinator, design development, and/or system administrator with demonstrated proficiency in desktop publishing (preferably with Apple/Mac system). Internal Auditor

CSEA one of New York State’s largest unions is seeking resumes for an Internal Auditor for our downtown Albany, NY headquarters. The position is under the direct supervision of the Senior Internal Auditor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working at the Region/Local/Unit level reviewing financial affairs, completing audits, advising about reporting obligations and acceptable reporting procedures, assisting with preparation of financial reports, assisting in developing uniform budgeting and reporting forms and participating in treasurer training.

Salary: $50,744

Computer Programmer / Analyst

CSEA, one of New York’s largest public employee unions is seeking a Computer Programmer / Analyst to work in our Albany, New York headquarters. Under the general direction of the Manager of Systems Programming and Support, the Computer Programmer / Analyst may be assigned to work with a more senior person within the Systems, Programming and Support Unit of the Information Technology Department. The incumbent codes, modifies, maintains, tests debugs, and documents computer programs and provides support along with some limited design responsibilities. The incumbent preforms both programming and analytical work in development, implementation and support of information systems, designs and translates system specifications into a logical process used to build applications and maintains current applications. The Computer Programmer / Analyst provides user documentation and/or manuals for applications, may provide user training and assistance. Interaction with project teams and user department personnel is expected.

Salary: $70,450 with excellent benefits.

Qualifications: Associates Degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Computer Science or related field. Three years of experience in both systems design and programming in a business environment using programming languages such as AJAX, JavaScript, SQL, POSTGRES, PHP, HTML, and Object oriented Programming Language with 6 months of exposure to system analysis work. Knowledge of databases, such as Oracle and/or SQL Server and knowledge of Mobile applications a plus.

Strategic Campaign Coordinator

Labor Education Specialist, downtown Albany, NY

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest unions is seeking resumes for a Labor Education Specialist. While based in our Albany, New York headquarters the position requires extensive travel throughout New York State. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Education and Leadership Development, the Labor Education Specialist designs, develops and implements education and training programs that meet the needs of officers, stewards and members in regions, locals and units. The Labor Education Specialist is part of the field services available to the regions, locals, units and members and as a professional staff member is responsible for statewide workshops and trainings, regional education committee meetings and regional events on an as needed basis.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, labor relations, political science, public administration or other related field as determined by CSEA, Inc., and a minimum of eighteen months of acceptable full-time experience in providing direct labor relations service, preferably in education and training, in a unionized environment; OR Associates Degree in human resources, labor relations, political science, public administration or related field as determined by CSEA, Inc., and a minimum of three and a half years of acceptable full-time experience in providing direct labor relations service, preferably in education and training, in a unionized environment; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of acceptable full-time experience in providing direct labor relations service, preferably in education and training, in a unionized environment. Experience in adult education is especially desirable. Certificate of Study in Labor Relations from an accredited college or university may be substituted, at the discretion of the employer, for some amount of acceptable full-time experience in a unionized environment; OR A satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate training and experience as determined by CSEA. Note: Candidates must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License and personal vehicle for business use in order to be appointed and continue in the position.

Salary is $56,629. The position offers a career ladder with satisfactory performance.
