Spring Conference is a success

OVER 100 MEMBERS TOOK PART IN CONFERENCE

Our Southern Region Spring Conference was held April 3-6, 2025 in historic Saratoga Springs, drawing well over 100 CSEA activists.

Organized by our Southern Region Education Committee with support from CSEA staff, the event featured a robust lineup of classes that allowed even the most experienced officers to return to their worksites with new skills and resources to share. A highlight of the weekend was a plenary session presented by CSEA Legislative Director Josh Terry and Political Action Coordinator Chris Ludlow, which provided a closer look at the current attacks on federal services and the impact that has on our jobs and communities.

Photos from the event are posted on our CSEA Region 3 Facebook page.

Support Special Olympics New York!

CSEA leaders from state correctional facilities in the Hudson Valley collect food for veterans in need.

Thank you to everyone who supported the 2025 Fishkill Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics New York! Click here to donate.

Each year, Team CSEA Region 3 raises funds through generous pledges and fundraisers to help support the programing for people with disabilities who take part in Special Olympics sporting opportunities. This vital fundraising allows the athletes to participate at no cost to them and provides meaningful experiences for both the athletes and their loved ones. This year, generous donors — including many locals and units — raised over $7,000 and counting for Special Olympics!

CSEA mourns Maria Coto, Westchester County Unit member

Our union is mourning the loss of Westchester County Unit member Maria Coto, who died June 19th from injuries sustained when she was brutally attacked on May 14th while working in the Peekskill community. Coto was a longtime caseworker with the Westchester County Department of Social Services. Her murder has been devastating for her loved ones and co-workers and has prompted shows of solidarity from CSEA-represented caseworkers across New York State.
