This Week in Albany – March 7, 2025

1. Join the Fight Against Federal Cuts!

Congress wants to slash $2 trillion in funding for public services to pay for a tax cut for billionaires.

Our state receives over $90 billion in federal funding to keep hospitals open, schools running, and infrastructure intact. If these cuts move forward, public services will suffer, and CSEA members’ jobs will be on the line.

We cannot sit back while politicians and billionaires play games with our future. Join the fight against federal cuts!

Check out CSEA’s federal action page to access resources and learn more about this campaign.

2. Federal Government Shutdown

Congress must pass a budget or stopgap funding measure before March 14, or the federal government will shut down. There is no deal in sight, as Republicans are divided over spending cuts, foreign aid reductions, and federal workforce cuts. If no deal is reached in time, non-essential government functions will halt, and federal employees could face furloughs or work without pay.

3. One-House Budgets

The New York State Assembly and Senate are expected to release their one-house budgets next week. Now is the time to contact your legislators on CSEA’s priorities! Click the links below to send a letter to your legislators:
