AFSCME 47th International Convention underway

CSEA delegates were back in the convention hall this morning as the 47th AFSCME International Convention officially got underway with an opening ceremony filled with energy, emotion and appreciation for retiring AFSCME President Lee Saunders and Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride.

President Saunders addressed delegates in one of the morning’s most memorable moments. The love and respect in the room for both leaders was unmistakable.

CSEA’s own Donna Worsley-Hines had the special honor of escorting President Saunders into the convention hall, bringing an energy that was electric and perfect for the occasion.

President Saunders also shared a warm moment with CSEA statewide leaders, including Executive Vice President Jarvis T. Brown.

CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan, surrounded by our union’s delegation, introduced on the floor a resolution honoring the late former CSEA President Danny Donohue. CSEA delegate and SUNY Fredonia Local President Stephanie Teachman also addressed the convention.
