State budget extender passed

The State Senate and Assembly passed on Tuesday a state budget extender that will keep state government open through April 7. This extender contains funds to pay CSEA Executive branch members on the Institution payroll. Currently, our union does not anticipate any issues with this vote and fully expect paychecks to be issues on time.

Due to the Easter and Passover holidays, a final budget is not expected to be enacted before the expiration of this funding extender. In addition, the Governor and legislative leaders remain deadlocked on several major issues, including auto insurance reform, changes to state environmental laws, housing, and funding for New York City.

CSEA will continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for our union’s budget priorities.
