Preparing for Retirement
It’s never too early to prepare for retirement although 18 months before your anticipated date of retirement the New York State and Local Employees’ Retirement System (NYSLERS) suggests requesting an estimate of your retirement.
The Retirement System will provide you with estimated amounts payable under the various options. This is done through A Request for Estimate Form.
Form RS 6030: is available from your employer, from the NYSLERS’s headquarters in Albany or from the Retirement System’s traveling Information Representatives.
A request for an estimate does not commit you to retire on a certain date, but will assist your retirement planning.
For additional details on Form RS 6030 including how to request one and what to do with it when you do receive it, consult your CSEA Retirement Guide.
You will find information to help you schedule a recommended consultation with a NYSLERS Information Representative including a listing of meeting hours and locations around the state where you can ask specific questions about your benefits and get information on your individual circumstances.
