State Operations - NYS Canal Corp
CSEA-represented employees maintain and operate New York State’s 524-mile canal system that links the Hudson River with Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, The Finger Lakes, the Niagara River and Lake Erie.
The system includes 57 locks, 20 lift bridges and 114 dams. Dating back to 1918, much of the historic equipment requires significant maintenance and unique skills often second and third generation Canal employees.
CSEA is organized into four CSEA Locals: 500, 501, 503 and 527. CSEA Labor Relations Specialists for those Locals are:
