Capital Region President Shana Davis

Capital Region President Shana Davis became a member of CSEA in 1989 when she began her career at the New York State Department of Taxation & Finance. She was appointed Tax Local 690 shop steward in 2004. In 2005, she graduated from CSEA’s Leadership Education & Development Program (LEAD).

In 2006, Davis assumed the role of Chair of Local 690’s Women’s Committee and in 2008 was appointed as a Delegate of Local 690. Her election to Local 690 Secretary came in 2013. The following year, 2014, Davis was elected treasurer of CSEA’s Capital Region, a position she held until being elected as Capital Region Executive Vice President in 2020. In 2024, Davis was elected CSEA Capital Region President.

Davis has served on three CSEA Statewide Contract Negotiation Teams; 2011, 2016 and 2021. She also serves as a representative on the CSEA Statewide Joint Committee on Health Benefits, CSEA Statewide Temporary and Seasonal Committee and the CSEA Political Action Fund.

Davis extends her union activism to area labor organizations. serving as President of the Capital District Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) and board member of the Capital District Area Labor Federation.

Davis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Phoenix.

Davis is a member and volunteer at Life.Church Albany and devotes time to numerous other community and charitable organizations.
