Summer of Primaries!

New York State will hold a second primary this Summer on August 23.

Why?  The NYS Court of Appeals ruled State Senate and Congressional redistricting lines unconstitutional and ordered new maps to be drawn.  As a result, their primary was pushed to August 23.  However, the court’s decision did not impact the gubernatorial and assembly primaries was still held on June 28.

CSEA Endorsed Statewide Candidates

CSEA endorses Governor Kathy Hochul
Governor Hochul was overwhelmingly successful in her June 28 primary bid. Since becoming Governor she has made fighting for CSEA members a top priority.  Here are just a few of her accomplishments on behalf of us:

  • Lifted the state’s hiring freeze
  • Secured bonuses for direct care and health care workers
  • Made major investments in childcare
  • Made positive pension reforms
  • Ensured historic levels of funding for school districts
  • Expanded service credits for all eligible veterans who honorably served.

CSEA endorses Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado
Lietenant Governor Delgado was also overwhelmingly successful in his June 28 primary bid.  CSEA has developed a solid relationship with Delgado during his time Representative for New York’s 19th Congressional District.  “He supported the American Rescue plan that brought much-needed revenue to our State and local governments and into our communities. He helped pass that act which in turn helped us all weather the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan in her statement announcing this endorsement.
